Abstract: Esophageal cancer (EC) is a common malignant tumor in China, which is a type of malignant lesion formed by abnormal hyper plasia of esophageal squamous epithelium or glandular epitheli um with concealed onset. In the early stage, it is partly manifest ed as dysphagia, foreign body sensation in the esophagus or post-sternal burning. While in the middle and advanced stages, it would be manifested as a progressive dysphagia. The 2020 global cancer statistics showed that EC is the 8th most common malignant tumor in the world and the mortality rate is the sixth highest. Up to now, the treatment of EC is comprehensive char acterized by the radical surgery as the main therapy and radio therapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy as the complementary therapies. While surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in creasingly exhibited their innate limitations and shortcomings in the treatment of EC, more and more attentions are casted on the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) especially the combination of TCM and modern medicine with anticipation to overcome the shortcomings and improve the treatment ef 阮 acy. This review summarizes the elini('al research progress of TCM treatment for EC in the past 10 years and discusses how to recognize this dis ease in TCM. |
